Neighborhood Square
Though DNAinfo had established itself as the leading neighborhood news source in New York City and Chicago, there was more happening in these neighborhoods than any newsroom could possibly cover. Enter Neighborhood Square, DNAinfo’s social hub that empowered neighbors to connect, share, learn from and have conversations with each other about the neighborhood matters that didn’t make the news.

Inspired by the idea of bringing the city’s communities online, we crafted an expressive, welcoming and vibrant brand identity by employing a bold logo, bright colors and playful illustrations.

While it was important that the Neighborhood Square brand stand on its own, we were sure to establish shared graphical elements so that any future product integrations were visually cohesive.

The social platform’s interface was simple and intuitive. The neighborhood feed was entirely customizable, allowing our users to follow, read, post and comment on content in the neighborhoods they cared about.
